Outrigger Steer Training

Individuals that were previously certified to steer OC-6 canoes with OutriggerSports are deemed certified to steer for DragonSports.

DragonSports provides both land and on-water training to interested members throughout the year. Are you interested in learning to steer the outrigger canoes? Attend one classroom session (1.5 hrs) and as many on-water practice sessions as you need. Pass the written and on-water tests at the end of your training, and you will be certified to steer the outrigger canoes for your crew or open practices.

The next classroom session will take place on Monday, May 16, 2011 in the evening (exact time TBD) at Stoel Rives, 900 SW 5th Ave, 26th floor (map). A one time-payment of $20 is required to begin the course--please bring a check with you to the classroom session or pay in advance using PayPal.

Please sign up via Team Snap. For a Team Snap account, or for any other questions, please contact outrigger@dragonsports.org.

Annual Huli Drill

To maintain certification, all DragonSports steers must complete a huli recovery drill annually. Opportunities to participate in group drills will be emailed to qualifying individuals each summer.
