Outrigger Crew Practices
DragonSports has two six-person outrigger canoes stored within the RiverPlace Moorage for use by DSUSA members. The canoes are available for rent by crews at the rate of $15 per session (typically one and a half hours). All paddlers must be DSUSA members and have signed a waiver.

Crew Rental Terms
- At least one individual from each Crew shall be designated as the Crew Contact for purposes of renting outrigger canoes and equipment from DSUSA.
- The Crew Contact must be a DSUSA-certified steersperson.
- The Crew Contact shall have priority to schedule practice times on the Outrigger Master Schedule and may schedule those practice times quarterly (by January 1, April 1, July 1, October 1) throughout the calendar year.
- Outrigger rental fees will be invoiced by the DSUSA Treasurer quarterly.
- Crews may request alternate practice times and will be notified if an alternate practice time is available after all Crews have submitted their quarterly schedules.
- Crews may use DSUSA canoes and equipment only during practice times confirmed by DSUSA.
- Canoes and equipment must be returned at least 5 minutes before the end of the Crew's schedule practice
session for the next Crew to use. - If there is congestion in the dock area, the steersperson should attempt to signal the next Crew that it will pull up to the dock and unload as soon as the congestion clears. The next Crew should not extend its practice time unless it is certain that there are no Crews going out after it. Extensive delays/practice shortages on account of other Crews should be reported to DSUSA for handling.
- Crews canceling practice times will receive credit only by notifying DSUSA at least three days (or 72 hours) in advance of such practice times. Crews will automatically receive credit for practice times canceled by DSUSA due to adverse conditions. Canceled practices will receive a credit applied to the next quarter.
- Damage to DSUSA canoes or equipment must be reported to the DSUSA Board immediately or ASAP after the end of the practice during which the damage occurred. The first $100.00 of any repair costs for damage beyond normal wear and tear will be shared among Crews involved.
- Crews must provide their own lights for paddling between sunset and sunrise.
- At the end of each practice, if another Crew is not waiting to take out the canoe(s), the canoe(s) must be returned to the cradles on the dock, the canoe(s) must be locked, excess water from the canoe(s) must be bailed, all borrowed DSUSA equipment must be returned and neatly stowed in the DSUSA locker, and the locker must be locked.
- Crews must always use the launcher to move the canoes in and out of the water.
- All Crew members must be members of DragonSports USA. Any Crew member not yet registered may do so online. Periodic membership audits may be conducted. Any person found to not be a DSUSA member will have the option of becoming a member or must cease using DSUSA boats and equipment.
- All Crew members knowledgeable about and adhere to the DragonSports USA Boat Safety Rules & Guidelines at all times
