Summertime Boating

It's that time of year again! Motorized boaters are out on the river, stirring up wakes and sometimes problems. If you wish to report a violation, here's the recommended procedure:

For an emergency situation (danger to life or property or a crime in progress) call 911.

For a non-emergency report, call 503-823-3333. It's a menu system that should lead to a live person. This assures a report is logged in Multnomah County.

For after-the-fact complaints, emails are best. These should be sent to marine.board@state.or.us. These emails are logged. Photos are helpful if you have them.

Keep in mind that the Holgate Channel No Wake Zone is from the mouth of the Ross Island Lagoon south to the end of the floating homes. The north Holgate Channel is not a wake free zone. Make sure that your boat is where it is supposed to be in the channel and that rules of the road are being followed by you and/or your crew.

i was appalled on Sunday when David a board member let the Pirate boat go on in the middle of row for the cure. Paying no attention to the rules and regulations you have us all adhere too. Not only One year old but 3 or more under 14. PFD were under clothing ????? The boat looked so unsafe and a cannon in the middle along with them standing on benches and middle rail

Thank you for your concern. The dragon boat rental that you witnessed on Sunday was under a special arrangement. Please contact board@dragonsports.org with any additional concerns.
