DragonSports is going to be conducting a introductory classroom session for dragon boat and outrigger canoe steer training at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 26th. The class should last about an hour and a half.

The class will be at PBS Environmental + Engineering, at 4343 SW Corbett, Portland, OR.

The materials for this class are available FREE online at our website; you will need to print them and bring them with you to the classroom.

If you haven't been through our classroom session yet, I would say yes. Please contact steering@dragonsports.org and talk to Burton about it if you think you can bypass the class.

It is sad that I missed the steer training last August 1, 2018 and also the introductory classroom session last April 26, 2018. When will be the next training and classroom session? Also, what if I do not have an experience about steering the dragon boat and outrigger canoe? Am I still qualified to join the training? I really want to learn. I am really amazed when I watch some videos of people joining the Dragon Boat Festival. When I watched these videos, I always picture myself as one of those people. That is why I really want to learn.

We have training sessions a few times a year. The classroom is the kickoff to learn to steer both dragon boats and outriggers, but some people do find ways to learn on their own. I would email steering@dragonsports.org and talk to the trainer about your options if you want to get started before the next class.
