Grant Program

Annually, the DragonSports Board may choose to set aside funds for the fiscal year to be used for grants for up to $1500 for applying high school or junior teams. Teams must apply for grants in writing to the DragonSports Board and include the following information:
  1. Team Name
  2. Coach/Manager Name and Contact Information
  3. A statement that briefly describes your team's history, past race participation and results, and your team's goals for this fiscal year.
  4. Team Roster including team members' names and email addresses. Please indicate which team members are current DragonSports members, if known, and provide completed membership applications and waivers (with signatures from parents/guardians for applicants under 18 years of age) for all prospective DragonSports members
  5. A proposed budget detailing how funds should be allocated to DragonSports programs. Please consider memberships ($20 per individual), practices ($30/hour), and race entry fees in your budget. Click here to view a sample budget (please note that some of the pricing may be slightly outdated).
Grant teams may register for DragonSports' Portland Dragon Boat Festival at the reduced rate of $400 per team provided that the team provides at least 12 team volunteers to assist with set-up or clean-up during race weekend. Grant teams may request to have grant funds applied toward the reduced rate registration fee.

Please contact board@dragonsports.org to apply or for more information.
